Here you can see Jamie Middleditch and Jack Moore being tested for their Black belt promotion. Grade promotion at all levels are a celebration, and though formal by nature, we like to lighten the tension, and calm the students nerves, by introducing a 'family' atmosphere to the testing. Here you can see special 'black belt' cakes (to be consummed after the grade), celebration balloons, and invited friends & families. Becoming a Black belt (ILL Dan) is a great personal achievement, and a huge positive landmark in a students personal life, and a credit to the school.
Choi Kwang Do is unique because we respect that not everyone is young, supple and fit like our two students above. So gradings and routine weekly training sessions are geared towards what is practical for individual students. We always strive to increase a students health, fitness and defence techniques, but always within a students reasonable capabilities. Choi Kwang Do concentrates on the individual student, there is no peer pressure or 'keeping up with the jones' in CKD.
